Why is Football not being encouraged as much as Cricket in India?
In India, there are a lot of people enthusiastic about Cricket. It is the same for Football but isn't being recognised.
Why is it so?
The fanbase cricket has in India is huge, but we shouldn't neglect the fact that it is the same with football. There are many guys who dream about being a football player. This doesn't happen because some of our parents feel football isn't gonna support us. If it doesn't support us, so does cricket. Cricket isn't India's only sport, there is as much hype for football as cricket. Football isn't recognised, as it probably requires more money and you need more physical strength. Regardless, the talent is not recognised.
What can we do to promote Football?
We can promote Football in many ways, if the right thought is given. We can Set up a lot of Football Coaching centres, Football trials/selections for representation, Broadcast Football matches on main sports channels, Open up football stores, Advertise more about football, and increase the number of football accessories in sport's stores. One football training class in school per week.
Why is football promoted more in North-Eastern India?
The answer is, They have constant football training. Not that they're more talented than the others. The coaches and elders who run the football coaching have more passion, they have hopes, which is lacking in the rest of the country! We should also encourage the boys & girls in youth to take part in football training. But some stuff like money stands as an obstacle, what can we do then? Maybe the coaches can understand the problem and see their potential and reduce the fee. A man can dream, after all, football is all about business and money. One day, I would wish to see the trainers cooperating with the teenagers and not waste their talent, because of their greed for more money.
Also, don't you think there are already a lot of people who go for selections in cricket?
Why isn't ISL not encouraged and hyped as much as IPL? The football players work so hard to entertain us, and the audience they have isn't enough.
We still have time, we can still join hands and promote football.
Conclusion
We have to understand that there is equal potential in both sports.
Football can be recognised more if we advertise more & importantly, in the right way.
Never lose hope that you can't become a football player, if you want to. If you have the passion, you can do it.
Never be toxic on which sport is better
Football deserves the hype and needs to be encouraged by parents and coaches.
Believe in yourself & your talent, your dreams will come to you.
